Rookie safety Eddie Jackson’s two defensive returns for touchdowns lifted the Chicago Bears to a hard-fought 17-3 win over the Carolina Panthers at overcast Soldier Field Sunday afternoon. The Bears won their second consecutive game to improve to 3-4 on the season. Carolina dropped to 3-3.

Jackson, the Bears fourth-round draft choice from Alabama, became the first player in NFL history to record two 75 yard plus defensive returns for scores to headline a stellar Chicago defensive effort.  His gems included  a 76-yard interception-return touchdown and a 75-yard fumble-return touchdown. Jackson’s  big-play ability and  instincts have rejuvenated a Bears defense that had been lacking in the takeaway department until the last two games.
