Bears set training camp dates

Fans hoping to get a glimpse of the 2017 Chicago Bears should mark their calendars now as the club hits the practice field at Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais in late July.

The team announced its training camp schedule with most practices beginning late morning and lasting until early afternoon. In a twist this year, the Bears are requiring fans to register online for free tickets that will be scanned at the camp’s entrance. Interest and attendance has lagged the last few seasons as the team has struggled on the field.

Bears rookies actually get a head start on their transition to the NFL as they report one week earlier on July 19. QB Mitch Trubisky, the Bears first-round pick and second overall selection in the recent NFL draft, is expected to command much of the attention as he embarks on his NFL career.  Other eyes will be focused on free-agent QB Mike Glennon, who takes over from the departed Jay Cutler and is targeted to become the Bears opening day starter.
