After taking a brief 10-6 lead early in the third quarter, the Chicago Bears were outscored 20-0 the rest of the way, leading to a 26-10 loss to the Green Bay Packers Thursday night in Lambeau Field. The Bears fell to 1-6 on the season, while the Packers improved to 4-2.

Leonard Floyd’s sack, strip, and fumble recovery in the endzone provided the only highlight for the Bears on a night when injuries mounted on a beleaguered roster. QB Brian Hoyer was forced to exit early in the second quarter after breaking his non-throwing arm when he was sandwiched between Clay Matthews and Julius Peppers. G Kyle Long also left the contest in the first half after apparently injuring his shoulder/arm. Long has been playing with a torn labrum since the beginning of the season.

With little offense generated by third-stringer Matt Barkley, Chicago was dominated in time of possession, forcing the defense to stay on the field and defend against Aaron Rodgers short-passing attack. Rodgers carved up a young and inexperienced Bears secondary which was forced to shuffle the lineup due to injuries. Rodgers completed a Green Bay franchise-record 39 passes, connecting with WR Davante Adams 13 times and a pair of touchdowns.

While the Bears were nursing injuries, Green Bay was without it’s top two rushers and three members of its secondary. The Packers adjusted, with Rodgers spreading the ball around to Adams, Randall Cobb, and Ty Montgomery. Montgomery, WR and return specialist from Stanford, displayed his

versatility by lining up in the backfield and demonstrating both elusiveness and vision by rushing for 60-yards on 9 carries. Montgomery also caught 10 passes for 66 yards as the Packers ran up over 400-yards of total offense.

Meanwhile, the Bears were stuck in neutral. Ka’Deem Carey’s 24-yard burst was about the only thing Chicago could hang its hat on as the ground attack stalled with both Long and Josh Sitton (ankle) out of the lineup. Barkley struggled, completing just 6-0f-15 for 81-yards with two interceptions.

The wounded Bears try to regroup before hosting unbeaten NFC North rival Minnesota on Halloween night.

Bear Tracks: For the third straight game the Bears racked up over 10 penalties….OLB Pernell McPhee saw his first action of the year but was a non-factor in limited action…WR Alshon Jeffery was held to 3 catches for 33-yards despite playing a Green Bay unit missing its top three CB’s…Chicago head coach John Fox was matter-0f-fact afterwards. “Well, when you lose your starting Quarterback, it can be disruptive. It’s not an excuse, it’s just a reality.”
