Seeking depth with CB Charles Tillman out for the season, the Chicago Bears brought back S Derrick Martin. Martin spent time briefly with the Bears in preseason.

The club’s official release follows:

The Chicago Bears have signed S Derrick Martin to a one-year contract. The 5-10, 198-pound Martin has appeared in 66 games with four starts over seven seasons with Baltimore (2006-08), Green Bay (2009-10), the New York Giants (2011) and New England (2012), gathering 37 tackles, three interceptions, eight pass break-ups, one sack and one fumble recovery after being selected by the Ravens in the sixth round (208th overall) in the 2006 NFL Draft.

Bear Tracks: DE Shea McClellin was at practice Wednesday, but sat out positional drills. McClellin is hoping his injured hamstring is healed enought to aid a weak Bears pass rush Sunday when the defending Super Bowl champion Baltimore Ravens visit Soldier Field…QB Jay Cutler and LB Lance Briggs will miss the contest. Besides McClellin, LS Patrick Mannelly and newly signed DT Jay Ratliff sat out the workout….Former Bears WR/special teamer Sam Hurd received a 15-year prison sentence on a drug trafficking conviction.
