Bears set training camp schedule

New Chicago Bears head coach Marc Trestman will kick off the team’s annual training camp on July 26 at Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais. The Bears finally released the camp schedule today, just weeks before it begins. The 2013 season marks the 12th consecutive year the team has worked out at ONU.

The site, approximately 60 miles south of Chicago, will feature a variety of new activities for fans throughout the team’s three week stay.  Admission and parking to RC Training Camp are free.

Chicago Bears General Manager Phil Emery has long been an advocate of statistical data analysis as an evaluation tool. He confirmed that with the hiring of Mitchell Tanney as the club’s director of analytics.

Emery alluded to the importance of statistical research after last season as a way to self-analyze and scout. Tanney comes to the Bears from STATS LLC, where he served as manager of football products and manager of sports analytics  for the past two years.  READ MORE

Calling the off-season a success, new Chicago Bears head coach Marc Trestman concluded mandatory mini-camp workouts Thursday and complemented his club on their work habits prior to a month-long break before training camp begins in late July.

This concludes just a heck of an off-season,” Trestman said. “I mentioned the players on a number of things. We learned we got our practice tempo up, we had great meetings, learned how we were going to meet, divide our time up during the day, the whole thing it culminates a major portion of our off-season obviously and leading into the next step, which will be training camp. Our players really got into our weight, strength and conditioning program with Mike Clark and they did an excellent job there. READ MORE
