Greetings from Mobile. Partly cloudy skies and high 60’s here at Ladd-Peebles Stadium for the last day of full-padded practices. Some thoughts and comments following the workout.

-North Cornerbacks Leonard Johnson  (5-9 198) of Iowa State, Boston College’s Donnie Fletcher (6-2 201) and Nebraska’s Alonzo Dennard (5-10 203) showed they weren’ t afraid to mix it up, dominating one on one blocking drills against the wide receivers. Each showed an aggressive nature. READ MORE

Day Two From the Senior Bowl: South Practice

Here are my observations from watching the South team practice this afternoon:

Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan and his staff sent the South team through their first full-padded practice this afternoon at Ladd-Peebles Stadium. The South squad has arguably the higher graded prospects, with several defensive lineman meriting first round consideration.

Defensive end Quinton Coples of North Carolina is a consensus top ten pick by most evaluators. Coples is a sculpted athlete, measuring 6-5 and 281 pounds.  READ MORE

Senior Bowl Day Two

The North squad has wrapped up its practice for Tuesday. Full pads today under Partly Cloudy skies and temp’s this morning in the low 60’s with a breeze.

In team drills, the defense clearly had the advantage. There were alot of bad Center/QB exchanges which need to be ironed out. Wisconsin QB Russell Wilson and Michigan State QB Kirk Cousins were ok, but Boise State’s Kellen Moore continues to struggle. It’s only Tuesday, but he looks out of place against top competition. His throws flutter and are missed the mark frequently. Moore displays poor footwork, possibly a result of not taking many snaps under center while at Boise.

Senior Bowl Day One Notebook

Day One Practice Impressions (North Squad):

-Michigan State’s Kirk Cousins looked the part of an NFL Quarterback, especially in comparsion to the smallish sized duo of Wisconsin’s Russell Wilson and Boise State’s Kellen Moore.  Cousins checked in at Monday’s weigh in at a solid 6’2, 209, while Wilson stood 5’10 and Moore 5’11. Cousins demonstrated excellent arm strength and command.

-The players were decked out in shells, but there was plenty of pad popping. READ MORE
